Private yacht at sea on a day trip from Paros towards Delos

Delos boat trip from Paros by private yacht

Delos, the island of Apollo and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies north of Paros, roughly 50 to 70 minutes by boat from Naoussa. We take you there on a private boat, land you at the site and then anchor in a quiet bay on Rhenia for a swim. Prices start at €2,200 with the Delos add-on, and we recommend a full day for the distance.

Why Delos is worth the trip

In myth Delos is the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, and for centuries it was the religious centre of the Cyclades. Today the whole island is an archaeological site, listed by UNESCO in 1990. You walk through the Sanctuary of Apollo, past the Terrace of the Lions, ancient houses with mosaics and the theatre quarter. There is very little shade, so bring a hat, water and good shoes. Plan two to three hours ashore.

The route from Naoussa

We leave Naoussa harbour in the morning, ideally to reach Delos soon after the site opens. The boat heads north out of Naoussa bay, and the crossing takes roughly 50 to 70 minutes depending on the boat and the sea. The skipper lands you at Delos and, after your visit, takes you across the narrow channel to Rhenia for a swim and lunch on board. If a strong north wind is forecast, we may suggest another day.

  • 50 to 70 minutes each way
  • Route checked against the forecast

Swimming at Rhenia

Swimming is not allowed around the archaeological site, so the swim stop is on Rhenia, the uninhabited island just west of Delos, across a channel about a kilometre wide. Its bays at Glyfada, Lia and Ambelia have clear water over sand and pebbles, with no buildings and no beach bars. The skipper picks the bay that is sheltered on the day, and drinks and snacks are on board.

  • Glyfada, Lia and Ambelia bays
  • Sheltered bay chosen on the day

Add a Mykonos stop

Mykonos is a short run from Delos, so a full day can include a stop there: lunch by the water in Mykonos town or a swim on the south coast before the run home to Paros. It adds time at sea, so it works best on a full day with a calm forecast. Tell us when you book and we plan the timing with you, together with the rest of the day.

Questions

Delos from Paros: questions guests ask

Can you visit Delos from Paros?

Yes, you can visit Delos from Paros by private boat in one day. We leave from Naoussa harbour, cross north to Delos in roughly 50 to 70 minutes, land you at the archaeological site and then stop at Rhenia for a swim. Prices start at €2,200 for 4 hours, but a full day from €2,900 is the better choice.

How long is the boat ride from Paros to Delos?

The boat ride from Naoussa to Delos takes roughly 50 to 70 minutes each way on our boats. The time depends on the boat and the sea, as the route runs north across open water. In a strong north wind the crossing is slower, and the skipper may suggest another day.

How much is a private boat trip from Paros to Delos?

A private Delos and Rhenia trip from Paros starts at €2,200 for 4 hours on the Technohull GT7. For a full day the price is €2,900 on the GT7, €3,200 on the GTX, €4,000 on the Axopar 37 and €4,500 on the Azimut 56. Site tickets are extra.

What are the opening hours of Delos?

Delos is open daily from 08:00 to 20:00 from April to the end of August. Hours then shorten, to 19:30 in early September and 18:00 in late October, and the site closes from December to March. Last entry is 20 minutes before closing, and the site is closed on 1 May and Easter Sunday.

Are Delos tickets included in the boat trip?

No, archaeological site tickets are not included in our price. You buy them at the site when you land. Our price covers the boat, skipper, fuel, drinks and snacks, plus the €1,000 Delos and Rhenia add-on, which is the same on every boat.

Can you swim at Delos?

No, swimming is not allowed around the archaeological site of Delos. That is why we stop at Rhenia, the uninhabited island across a channel about a kilometre wide. Its bays, such as Glyfada, Lia and Ambelia, have clear water and no buildings, and the skipper picks the sheltered one.

Can you stay overnight on Delos?

No, nobody may stay overnight on Delos, and all visitors must leave the island by closing time, which is when the last boats go. We plan the day so you have two to three hours ashore and still have time for Rhenia and an easy run back to Naoussa.

Can we combine Delos with Mykonos?

Yes, a full-day trip can add a stop in Mykonos, a short run from Delos, for lunch in town or a swim on the south coast. It means more time at sea, so we suggest a full day and a calm forecast. Tell us when you book and we plan the timing.
